Making and repairing dental appliances such as brances, dentures, bridges, etc..., the dental lab tech can and will grow in salary with experience, but has benefits to their job. Calm and easy going working conditions vs. a dental office can be a much less stressful position, plus they generally get their own workbenches and equipment.
Jobs do exist right now for $100,000.00+ US but require massive amounts of experience... so don't give up :) Some of the materials that dental laboratory technicians get to work with are plaster, wax, porcelain, and plastic, as well as with gold and other metals. Many students are directly entering formal training programs right after high school for an average two year program. Looking for a higher paying salary in a dental-related field?
